Explanation of Appointments at Back to Health

Initial Assessment (First Visits)
On your first visit, you will receive a thorough assessment, diagnosis and a treatment plan will be proposed. Advice is provided regarding your condition and exactly how chiropractic, osteopathy, physiotherapy or other therapy can help you.
For Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy we will allocate up to an hour for your Initial Assessment. However, many patients only require 20-40 minutes for their assessment. At Back to Health we want to ensure your practitioner has as much time as required to carryout a full assessment based on the symptoms/issue patients come to us with. We would never keep a patient longer than required nor over treat in a session and this can lead to worsening of a condition.
The first part of the visit will include a comprehensive medical history followed by a physical examination and tests ranging from specific orthopaedic, neurological, range of movement, muscle length/strength and other appropriate tests.
Following the assessment, you will be provided with a verbal report of findings and an explanation of treatment options. Treatment and advice is normally provided during the first visit unless clinically not advisable.
If you are a former patient but have not been in for treatment for more than two years, you will be required to book an Initial Assessment.
Follow up treatments
A follow up treatment is an appointment which takes place after an assessment. Depending on your condition you may require a course of treatment. These appointments will vary in length depending on the complexity of your condition and your agreed treatment plan.
At Back to Health every patient is an individual. We guarantee we will never try to sell you unnecessary packages of care. Your progress will be regularly reviewed during your follow up visits and treatment will be altered according to how your body is reacting.
Reassessment
A reassessment appointment will be necessary for any new condition or if you have not had an appointment for at least six months. You may also need a reassessment appointment if your care is being transferred to or shared with another practitioner.

Did you know?
Your GP can refer you to chiropractors because they are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council in the same way as medical doctors are regulated by the General Medical Council. Sadly, you will still need to pay for your treatment as chiropractic care is not provided within the NHS in this area of the country. If you disagree with this, let your GP know!
