How can Physiotherapy help?
At your first appointment, which we call an Initial Assessment, your Physiotherapist will investigate the source of the problem, undertake a medical history, carry out a thorough examination, and a careful clinical assessment. Together we will get to the root cause of your symptoms, develop your customized recovery plan and provide you with your first treatment.
Physiotherapy treatment is a partnership between you and the physiotherapist, working together we aim:
- to restore your movement and functionality to as near normal levels as possible whether you have been affected by injury, illness or disability
- to reduce the likelihood of future injury
- to manage chronic and progressive conditions by improving physical capacity and quality of movement in daily life
- to speed up your recovery time after injury
- to reduce your pain until it becomes a distant memory
Treatment is tailored for you and may include:
- Acupuncture
- Heat and cold applications
- Joint mobilisation
- Kinesio taping
- Manual therapy
- Movement and exercise
- Shockwave Treatment [link to page please]
- Ultrasound Treatment
- An exercise programme for you to follow at home
Physiotherapy for Children
Physiotherapy is an excellent option for children as it can improve their physical capabilities and reduce pain caused by conditions such as musculoskeletal injuries, developmental delays, sport-related injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and postural problems.
Children can develop postural problems due to screen and phone use and if you are concerned that this may be affecting their development, they are experiencing pain or they are developing “tech neck”, a physio assessment is recommended.

Did you know?
Your GP can refer you to chiropractors because they are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council in the same way as medical doctors are regulated by the General Medical Council. Sadly, you will still need to pay for your treatment as chiropractic care is not provided within the NHS in this area of the country. If you disagree with this, let your GP know!
